What is Fiber Content?
The term "fiber content" refers to the fiber that makes the fabric. Fabrics can be made using one fibre (cotton silk, linen, and so on) or as blended (poly cotton).
You'll often see lists of "types of fabric However, they're actually lists of types of fibre:
Bamboo
Hemp
Wool
Linen
Acetate
Cotton
Polyester
Silk
These are only a few I've come across that are wrongly blamed on fabric types.
Another factor to consider when determining fiber content is whether the fibre:
Manufactured (man-made)
Animal
Natural
Let's examine each of them right in a moment.

Fabricated Fibres
Manufactured fibres are the ones that aren't natural, but are manufactured by humans or the cellulose fibres (rayon) or other sources such as petroleum (polyester)!
Natural Fibres
Natural fibres can be found in the natural environment - therefore the "natural" part! It can also be fibrous cellulose (cotton) or animal protein fibres (silk).
Animal Skins
The animal skins aren't 'fibres', but they are seen as fabrics. Like natural and manufactured fibres the skins of animals must be cleaned before they are used.

I've separated them into two since shearling is usually completed in a manner so that the skin can be worn without lining, whereas with furs, clothes are generally lined.

What is Fabric Structure?
When we speak of how fabric is constructed we're talking about the way in which the fabric is constructed:
Woven
Stretch
Knitted
Woven Fabrics
Fabrics that are weaved comprise a warp as well as a weft and are made on looms. They usually are tightly woven edges called selvedges - and there are a variety of weave styles to produce different results.
Most commonly, they are:
Satin weave
Twill weave
Plain weave
Denim weave
Brocade weave
Waffle weave

Stretch Fabrics

Gauze is a curtain fabric that was used in the past, gauze was a woven fabric that is made from different fibres and is used today for less formal clothing, too.
Georgette It is often mistaken for chiffon, it is made of polyester or silk however it has a more crepe-like finish than chiffon.
